RED DEER - CERVUS ELAPHUS L.

The average weight of a red deer stag trophy is from 6 to 9 kg. But we have hunting grounds where you can shoot red stags with trophies that weigh 10 kg and more. The stalking during the rut is a very nice experience for the hunter. The beautiful nature and the variety and richness of the game in the hunting grounds make Bulgaria so attractive hunting area. Here each hunter can find trophy according to his wish. Very successful is the red stag hide hunting in the winter months.

FALLOW DEER - CERVUS DAMA L.

The natural environment in the hunting grounds and the excellent weather conditions are very good basis for the permanent growth of the fallow deer stock in Bulgaria. Many hunters have already found out that the fallow buck rut period is very exciting experience as well. The bucks grunt guttural, ceaseless daylong and are constantly on the move. The average trophy weight is about 3 kg. But in some hunting grounds /VODEN/ are shot 4 to 5 kg bucks.

WILD BOAR - SUS SCROFA L.

Especially beautiful and big tusker trophies could be shot in Bulgaria and that is possible due to the great number of wild boar in mountains and forests. No other European country offers so stout and big boars as the ones in our country. It is an usual thing to hunt a boar with tusk length of 20 to 25 cm. Such trophies are gifts of the Bulgarian nature. The high percentage of the broad-leaved forests, the vast hunting grounds and the soft winter are good preconditions for the growth of the game. The hunting from a hide is particularly successful in December and January.

In selected areas we arrange driven hunts too. For 2 - 3 hunting days are shot more than 30 heads of wild boar. 3 to 5 battues are organized per day.

MOUFLON - OVIS MUSIMON PALL.

For decades past, migrating from central Europe, the mouflon game becomes in the meantime native to Bulgaria and fortunately it is very good represented now. The best hunting time is in November during the rut and in winter when the land is snow-covered.

The violent rut fights are an unique spectacle. We recommend combining with tusker hide hunting. In the last years the average trophy length is 75-80 cm. But we have some hunting grounds where rams with horn length over 85 cm are seen.

CHAMOIS - RUPICAPRA RUPICAPRA L.

In Bulgaria the chamois game lives in the subalpine high mountains. In the Rila and Pirin Mountains and also in Rhodopes and Balkan chain we don't have very rich game stock but we have a very robust one which means beautiful trophies. The best hunting period is from the middle of October to the end of November, beginning of December. The average trophy size is about 90 - 95 points CIC.

BROWN BEAR - URSUS ARCTOS L.

The import of bear trophies (the fur) from Bulgaria in the EU is permitted again. Just the proper papers are needed. You will get more related information from us.

The availability of bears in Bulgaria is very good from hunter's point of view. Despite this fact the brown bear is distributed only in certain mountains and few hunting grounds provide permission for bear hunting. That is why these areas are trading only trophies about 400 points CIC.

The good preparation guarantees successful hunting. Usually a decoy is used. The best hunting period is during the spring. At that time the chances for success are nearly 100%. The most appropriate month during the autumn is November.

CAPERCAILLIE - TETRAO UROGALLUS L.

The capercaillie hunting in Bulgaria could be defined as almost 100% successful. The richest game stock is located in Rhodope Mountain but also in some hunting grounds in Rila, Pirin and Balkan Mountains. The hunting time is limited - 20 days during the mating period. In comparison to other countries like Russia this kind of hunting is relatively more expensive in Bulgaria. Nevertheless those hunters who do not insist to sleep in a tent in Russia at all costs, but require comfort, will make a perfect choice with us.
